Both phones have tons of features and adds-on but each phone is on opposite ends. I have both phones operating in New York, The blackberry curve is on T-mobile service and the apple iPhone on AT&T service. I like that the Apple iPhone has a touch screen and is able to store thousands of mp3s which are downloadable through an easy service such as iTunes.

The Apple iPhone also has camera and a downloadable application store where the user can download application and games for the iPhone. Some programs are free of charge while others have charges that vary from $0.99 to $9.99. The apple iPhone glides through the programs with ease and rarely freezes. The phone reception is good and rarely has times with no service.

Now the iPhone also has it’s drawback which includes having exclusive service with AT&T and no other carrier has the iPhone. Now all the iPhone addicts will right away say “the iPhone is unlock-able” which opens the iPhone to any carrier. The problem with unlocking the iPhone is the user can not register the phone nor update its software on the iPhone because it will immediately lock itself.

The Apple iPhone uses an email system to send or recieve picture messages, now drawback to this system is that it does not allow the user to send or receive picture messages which creates a problem for the user because not everyone has an email to send or receive the pictures.

Now the iPhone has a great web browser which surfs the Internet with ease and has great viewing space with its incredible touch screen. The Apple iPhone also has limited Battery Life. Overall I like the iPhone for its ease of use and great screen quality but its limited service to AT&T creates a problem for me. Now the Blackberry Curve which has service for T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint makes it available to anyone.

The Blackberry Curve which I own has service for T-Mobile. The Blackberry Curve has tons of features ranging from Camera, Web Browsing, Picture Messaging, Blackberry Messaging (Exclusive Service where Blackberry users can text message for free), BlackBerry AppStore (Down-loadable application Store prices Ranging from $0.99 to $34.99).

Now the blackberry Curve also has its drawback which includes constant phone freezing, and small screen for viewing web pages. I guess it all boils down to which phone fits your lifestyle? But neither phone is better that we can declare one a winner. So Enjoy using either phone.

Google may dominate the online world, but they are finding out the hard way that jumping into the mobile phone industry is a different story entirely.

In November, Google, along with more than 30 partners, announced that they would be offering handsets based off of their mobile software, Android. At the time, Google was confident that they would be able to have these phones on the market sometime during the early part of the second half of 2008. Of course, a project of this magnitude can change many times over and is based on thousands of factors. For this reason, Google has announced that the phones will not be made available to the public until sometime during the 4th quarter.

Although the project has been delayed by several months, many insiders are still reporting that many carriers are having a difficult time keeping up. The same holds true for companies that are working on programs for the Android operating system.

T-Mobile believes that they will be able to have an Android powered phone offered in the United States by the 4th quarter. That being said, since Google is working so closely with T-Mobile, it has pushed other carriers further behind. For instance, Sprint Nextel was hoping to also launch during the 4th quarter, but it now appears that they will have to wait until 2009 to move forward.

The United States mobile market is not the only one missing out due to these delays. China Mobile, a company with 400 million subscribers, had major plans to launch an Android powered phone during the 3rd quarter of 2008. This project is believed to have been put off until late this year, or early 2009.

It is safe to say that Google has a thing or two to learn about the cell phone industry. When the company’s phones finally arrive, they will be up against stiff competition from the likes of Apple as well as many others. The results are sure to attract a lot of attention!

Since being released last September, the BlackBerry 8800 has made a lot of noise within the industry. After all, anytime that BlackBerry releases a new device it is safe to say that consumers and experts are going to take notice. Even though there were some people who were skeptical upon its release, the BlackBerry 8800 has proven mostly everybody wrong. The fact of the matter is that this is a great device, and for the most part, it suits the needs of every user.

The first thing that you will notice about the BlackBerry 8800 is its sleek and stylish looks. Even though looks should not sell devices such as this one, when it comes to consumer perception, it is something that is always front and center. The 8800 features the new pearl like trackball navigation in the middle of the device, instead of the side scroll. For some this might take time to get used to, but you will find it much more convenient and easier with the trackball. When you add this to the full QWERTY keyword, there is no wondering that first looks draw so many buyers towards the BlackBerry 8800.

The Blackberry 8800 Front/Back Views

For anybody who wants to take their device on the road with them, while still keeping up a high level of efficiency, it does not get much better than the BlackBerry 8800. Of course, this is not to say that the device is perfect. There are some drawbacks that may put you off, but for the most part, they are few and far between.

Top of the Blackberry 8800

With a two year contract, and the use of mail in rebates, you should be able to secure the BlackBerry 8800 (T-Mobile) for $299.99. This may sound like a lot to the average buyer, but if you know anything about mobile devices, you are sure to realize that this is a great deal. As far as messaging capabilities are concerned, the BlackBerry 8800 offers everything of higher priced models; and in many cases, much more.

Upon taking the BlackBerry 8800 in your hands, you will recognize the size as being easy to work with. It weighs in at .3 pounds, and the dimensions fit a device of this type nicely at 2.6 inches by .6 inches by 4.5 inches (W x D x H.)

Moving onto features, there are many that you will want to take in. As mentioned above, the full QWERTY keyboard is something that most professionals want when they buy a mobile device of this kind. This makes it easy for you to fire out emails and text messages without having to take hours upon hours to do so. If you are the type who needs to regularly send and receive email from the road, the BlackBerry 8800 is a great option. Not only is the keyboard suited to your needs, but the ease of use will make it simple for any professional to get started.

Of course, you will not want to buy until you learn a bit more about the integrated GPS feature. A lot of the competition in the smart phone arena lacks this feature, but the BlackBerry 8800 was not taking anything for granted. As long as you are subscribed to a location based GPS service, this feature will work without any add-ons. If you are a big Google user, Google offers Apps such as Google Maps, Search, and Gmail for the Blackberry 8800.

Gmail for the Blackberry 8800

All in all, the BlackBerry 8800 offers mobile professional the ability to take their office on the road. With a stylish and small design, full QWERTY keyboard, it does not get much better than the BlackBerry 8800.

Pros

1. Sleek and easy to handle design
2. Integrated GPS
3. Full QWERTY keyboard
4. Long lasting battery

Cons

1. No Wi-Fi
2. Despite its sleek design, the BlackBerry 8800 is a bit wide for comfortable talking
3. Some calls seem to be full of static

When word got out that LG has released a phone very much similar to that of Apple’s iPhone, one would definitely feel intrigued to check it out and see for themselves how similar the two high-tech gadgets actually are. Including their lack of catchier product names, the two have practically identical features, with their differences lying in the subtle (or not so subtle) details. Both can play music and videos; both are about 12mm thick; both come with the Edge and Bluetooth wireless data technology, a 2-megapixel camera, Internet access to check e-mail, but more notably, the touchscreen capabilities are reminiscent to that of the Blackberry. While the iPhone’s four- and eight-gigabyte versions are guaranteed to handle most mobile applications, the LG-KE850 model makes up for it with a memory slot. The LG Prada phone does however lack the Wi-Fi capability of its ‘rival’.

But let’s not forget why this new LG phone needs no captivating title; having the label ‘Prada’ on just about anything means paying a surmountable amount of money more than your rent. Prada has become synonymous with high-end fashion and with high-end fashion come high prices; and this phone is no different. The way women - and some men for that matter - buy Prada apparel and accessories to associate themselves with the prestige that is the Italian fashion company, the Prada phone seems targeted to those who are willing to go the extra mile for the eminence. However apparent the Prada phone seems to be competing with the iPhone, let’s be real here and say that their target audience isn’t exactly the same as Apple’s. To rival to that of Apple’s appeal when it comes to music, LG comes into the game with its fashion allure.

Available to the European public, i.e., the U.K., France, Germany and Italy, in late February, the 12-mm-thick device is set to cost €600 (euro), that’s equivalent to $775, about a couple of hundred bucks more than the 8-gigabyte version of the iPhone. Countries in Asia, i.e., Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore, are next in line, expecting the phone in late March, followed by Korea in the second quarter of 2007. A spokeswoman for the company in Seoul, Korea, Judy Pae says that LG has no plans to put it on sale in the U.S..

Not everyone can afford to purchase the latest and greatest Palm Treo or Blackberry type mobile phone, or maybe they just don’t feel like carrying around something that has such a big footprint in your pocket. That doesn’t mean that you have to be stuck to the limited capabilities of a normal cellphone though. There are many different services and applications out there that can help you to get the most out of your cell phone, Some of them require java enabled phones, and most need some sort of data access in order to be fully effective, but if you have both of those things these services may be just what you are looking for.

backup your data

ZYB is a service that enables you to create a backup of your phone’s contacts and calendar, and then allows you to share them online with the people that you choose. This service doesn’t require a java enabled phone, but your phone does need to have a feature called SyncML, a list of compatible phones can be found here. Like many new services of the web 2.0 generation, this service is still in an open beta.

find your way

If you find your self lost without a map, access to a computer, or lacking in the skills that are required to navigate using the stars, Google may have you covered. Google Maps Mobile allows you to take Google Maps with you wherever you may be.

Combining directions, maps, and satellite imagery, Google Maps is a free download that lets you find local hangouts and businesses across town or across the country — right from your phone.

This is a free program, but it does require a java enabled phone and data access. A list of compatible devices can be found here, and like many other Google services, this is still labeled as beta.

check email and news headlines

One of the biggest features that is missing from normal mobile phones is the ability to easily check your email and news headlines. Sure you can fire up the mobile browser and try to navigate your way around, but that is time consuming and somewhat difficult. Flurry is just the application to make email and news more accessible on your mobile phone. You do have to supply flurry with the password to your email account, but according to their website “flurry is even more secure than using a normal email client since your information is protected at every step of the process.”

A java enabled phone with data access is required, and there is no page to see if your phone is compatible, but there is a list of phones during sign up to check with. If your phone is on the list for Google Maps, there is a good chance Flurry will work also.

browse better

I mentioned in the previous point that using the built in browser on most phones is slow and difficult, and that is where Opera Mini for Mobile comes in.

Opera Mini™ is a fast and tiny Web browser, that allows you to access the full Internet on your phone. Take all your favorite Web sites on the go with Opera Mini!

You don’t have to be stuck with the default browser of your cell phone, and since Opera Mini is version 2.0 it is developed pretty well. This is a great replacement if you feel like your default browser isn’t cutting it. Since Opera is a web browser, you obviously need data access on your phone and to find out if your phone is compatible, check the list here.

If you know of any services or applications that make your cell phone experience sweeter, why not share them with us in the comments section.
