There are so many startups these days that it is very hard to get enough attention from the media and from the public to become successful. A new startup just is not worth writing an article about. It has to do something very special to get the attention.

I think the dot-com boom may be over, but there are still plenty of opportunities among Internet startups. Before you take a job with a new dot com. Internet companies, or dot coms, were supposed to be the next wave in business. as we all know how these new companies with new ways of doing things would change how we live and work, but dot com became dot bomb because high-flying Internet companies couldn’t turn a profit.

One area where things have really changed is for online journalism. The cost of starting has gone all the way to free, and a person can bring in income with their very first post assuming they’ve integrated an ad platform into their site. That’s powerful.

Although it’s easier to create a startup these days I think it’s more difficult to succeed because you really have to create something special and put a lot of time and effort into it to stand out from the crowd.
