posted by: Vlad Akilov

Do you remember when Google acquired YouTube for approximately $1.65 billion? You probably do because this was not too long ago. But it is only right now that Google has decided to attempt to cash in on this huge opportunity. And as you can imagine, there are many people who are not liking what they see.

Fans of YouTube are beginning to weigh in on the advertisements that are being added to the site. Some people have found the ads to be annoying, others don’t mind them, and of course, many are thinking about how they can profit from them. While there are sure to be thousands of opinions on this move, one thing is for sure: Google will finally start to make money off of YouTube.

The ads on YouTube appear when a video begins, and cuts out after 10 seconds. Located at the bottom of the video, it is safe to say that the ads are definitely in a visible area. The placement of the ads is one thing that seems to be bothering most YouTube fanatics. But with that being said, YouTube was not nearly as obtrusive with the ads as they could have been.

YouTube has stated that they will only use ads on videos that are created and posted by “select partners.” Google is going to charge $20 for every 1,000 page views, and also has plans on sharing revenue with their partners.

All in all, most YouTube users agree that the ads will eventually become commonplace, and will be ignored in time. Even though they may be disruptive at this time, soon enough most people will not think twice about them.

With the chance to make money through the videos that they post, some users are taking kindly to this move by Google. After all, this is a great way for some of the more popular users to earn a nice income.

It will be interesting to see what Google and YouTube come up with next. Users are split as to the current ad format, and only time will tell if this will change.
