Apple iPhone VS. LG Prada Phone
posted by: John Vincent HilarioWhen word got out that LG has released a phone very much similar to that of Apple’s iPhone, one would definitely feel intrigued to check it out and see for themselves how similar the two high-tech gadgets actually are. Including their lack of catchier product names, the two have practically identical features, with their differences lying in the subtle (or not so subtle) details. Both can play music and videos; both are about 12mm thick; both come with the Edge and Bluetooth wireless data technology, a 2-megapixel camera, Internet access to check e-mail, but more notably, the touchscreen capabilities are reminiscent to that of the Blackberry. While the iPhone’s four- and eight-gigabyte versions are guaranteed to handle most mobile applications, the LG-KE850 model makes up for it with a memory slot. The LG Prada phone does however lack the Wi-Fi capability of its ‘rival’.
But let’s not forget why this new LG phone needs no captivating title; having the label ‘Prada’ on just about anything means paying a surmountable amount of money more than your rent. Prada has become synonymous with high-end fashion and with high-end fashion come high prices; and this phone is no different. The way women - and some men for that matter - buy Prada apparel and accessories to associate themselves with the prestige that is the Italian fashion company, the Prada phone seems targeted to those who are willing to go the extra mile for the eminence. However apparent the Prada phone seems to be competing with the iPhone, let’s be real here and say that their target audience isn’t exactly the same as Apple’s. To rival to that of Apple’s appeal when it comes to music, LG comes into the game with its fashion allure.
Available to the European public, i.e., the U.K., France, Germany and Italy, in late February, the 12-mm-thick device is set to cost €600 (euro), that’s equivalent to $775, about a couple of hundred bucks more than the 8-gigabyte version of the iPhone. Countries in Asia, i.e., Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore, are next in line, expecting the phone in late March, followed by Korea in the second quarter of 2007. A spokeswoman for the company in Seoul, Korea, Judy Pae says that LG has no plans to put it on sale in the U.S..

I’d rather buy Prada phone than iphone. Prada phone looks a way better and Prada name sounds more expensive than apple iphone.

Joseph, i totally disagree with your comment. LG only hired Prada for there design and so looks kind of shabby. Look closely at the two phones, iphone from apple inc is the next must have for Christmas 2007.
Check out the apple website on the iphone section where the iphone is announced, the features are more amazing then LG.

I just got a Prada Phone, and im very happy with it, but technically is just a normal phone no innovation there, the camera is pretty decent but the games are rubbish, and the scroll can be a little stiff.. Apart from that is a very user-friendly phone.
Its beautifully designed but dont get eluded. Apple iPhone blows away this phone!! And this phone fails a lot while communicating with my macs via bluetooth and the PcSync Software is for MsWindows only and comes on a miniCd that will not load on your laptop.. Bummer!!

whaaaaat? this is obvousely one sided - the i phone is extremely user friendly!! if you have an ipod and razor you can just sell those and buy the iphone! dude screw the lg phone- plus c’mon WIFI!!! i can literaly sit here in my apt, get my gf on speaker phone, get on myspace, veiw my friend’s funny video he posted me, while listening to my fav. artist- all at the same time with the iphone ..try to do that prada…

Don’t deceive yourself folks!! The Prada Phone can not compete with Apple’s dominance in its user friendly software. A lot of the amazement and Wow experience comes from Apple mind blowing user software. Apple products are intuitive. Look at Microsoft’s vista, the worst piece of crap that I ever experience. I don’t see anything mind blowing with Prada user friendliness, it is probably more in the same vein as vista. Apple will when this battle folks!

one simple word –> iPhone!!!!! i bought the phone when it came out, and have nothing but good feedback about it. i recently saw the prada phone (while getting my nails done). my nail lady bought the prada… and i have to admit, it’s a beautiful looking phone… BUT, the software is lame. the iPhone is definitely user friendly (already mentioned above) and completely surpasses the prada. if you want to BUY THE NAME “prada,” then go for it… but that is a waste of money. go iPhone GO!

The Prada phone is WAY better than the iPhone. I brought the iPhone when it came out but recently replaced it with the Prada. The iPhone has a good set of features but is just so, very, very SLOW. Every task becomes a chore and add to that a battery which starts requesting a recharge after a couple of hours and the iPhone shows itself as the gimmick it is.
The Prada phone on the other hand excels at what you actually want to use a phone for: Calling, texting and taking photos. If you want to wait 20 minutes to load a 3d representation of your albums, which granted you will think looks cool first time, but will never really use, then get the iPhone. If you want a great and actually useful phone - get the Prada!
