Best SEO Plugins for Wordpress
posted by: Vlad AkilovIf you are always trying to find new ways of getting more hits to your blog, you might consider making it search engine friendly. Thats where this list comes in handy with some of the best plugins for wordpress that will make you rank higher in googles search engine, or any other search engine. You might also want to check out some other great wordpress plugins, a list that I posted a while back about the top wordpress plugins, very useful plugins, many of which some of you might have never even heard of.
Head META Description - Provides an automatic meta description tag for your blog, inserting a dynamic description depending on the query-type.
Ultimate Tag Warrior - Best Tag system for WordPress. You can use categories and tag system on one website which is very cool. Makes it easier by searching through the tags you made for the posts.
Google Sitemaps - Generates a Google Sitemaps compliant sitemap of your WordPress blog. The Google sitemaps program is part of the “Google webmaster tools”. Provides info on how people came to your site throught their googles search phrases.
Related Entries - Puts up related entries of your posts throught similar tags, and words. Good for SEO because more links within the site, great deep linking.
SEO Title Tag - Overrides several limitations in creating search engine optimized title tags for blog posts and for Pages in the WordPress blogging platform.
Landing Sites - When visitors is referred to your site from a search engine, they are definitely looking for something specific - often they just roughly check the page they land on and then closes the window if what they are looking for isn’t there. Why not help them by showing them related posts to their search on your blog?
Google Sitemaps - UTW Tag Addon - This plugin is a WordPress 2.0.4 plugin that automatically adds the UltimateTagWarrior tags onto the end of the google sitemap XML file as produced by the Google Sitemap plugin.
And if I missed any plugins that help you rank better in Search Engines, and Optimize your rank, please just leave your comments along, with the name of the plugins, and I will add them to the list.
Featured Information
Search engines can bring targeted traffic to your website. Anyone having internet access can use search engines to find the relative information. Suppose you are providing online learning opportunities or selling some products online like camera accessories or you are convincing people to buy canon camera or nikon camera you should present the information in such a way that your visitors should not get lost into the content. Also you should take proper onsite and offsite backup to save the data of your web space.

Actually, I can’t get the landing sites to work. Where did you put the php code in your k2 install?
September 22nd, 2006 at 2:19 pm
Try to put it in the sidebar, also you have to uncomment, the ls_install function by removing the /* and */, in the landingsites13.php.
Also you have to have the related post plugin installed too.

The Google Sitemaps Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin would go very nicely with this list:
http://www.dicontas.co.uk/blog/google-sitemap-utw-tag-wordpress-plugin/
It’s for those using the Sitemaps plugin and Ultimate Tag Warrior. This plugin adds your tag pages to your sitemap, something the Google Sitemaps plugin doesn’t do on it’s own.
It’s very good.

Tyler: Thanks for the link, I will add it to the list.
Jess and Oskar: Thanks for your comments, I really appreciate it.

Nice list. There is another plugin that you might like to highlight.
Its called optimal title. Url http://elasticdog.com/2004/09/optimal-title/
It changes page titles to be “page title - blogname” instead of the standard “blogname - page title”
Thanks again

Thanks, this is a very interesting article and I’ve followed a lot of your tips. I didn’t even know about things like the Google Sitemaps plugin. Of course another way to promote your blog is to post comments on other people’s blogs, like this, and hope that people click your name up ^ there!

Excellent comprehensive list of SEO plugins. I’m using most of these. Of course nothing works better than the ULTIMATE SEO RECIPE below:
1 convoluted list of popular searches
2 parts bourbon
30 minutes to hack out a pillar column based on what people want to know today (see convoluted list)
3 hours brag like heck
quality of content v. software - quality of content wins everytime

Hey, I’ve got an SEO question for you. I’ve been using Blogger for some time, and I’m thinking about using WP for my next blog. What I’m wondering is, what’s better for SEO purposes: A WP-hosted blog (ex: ipods.wordpress.com) or a domain name (ex: ipods.com) using the WP platform? Based on this post, it looks like you’re pretty knowledgeable about SEO as it pertains to WP. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for the tips, I hadn’t seen the “Related Entries” plugin yet. One that you didn’t have in your list, but I notice you use is the Top Commenters plugin, thats a good way to get people to comment on your blog and keep coming back.

I simply love the landing sites plug-in because when a user does not see what he or she is looking for in my blog, there are other options that they can be led to see if anything fits for them. It also enhances user interactivity within the site.

Hi, I am the owner of GSCSC, Inc. I am glad I found your information. I do believe that I am using a version of WP prior to 2.X or higher, and I don’t know if these will work with older versions. They should make a WP plugin for creating one way backlinks. Wouldn’t that be nice?

I strongly recommend that you turn the No Follow off in your comment section. I’ll watch Google Webmaster Tools, and if the links don’t show up after a couple of weeks — I won’t go back to that blog again. Another suggestion: you should have a Top Commentator widget installed. Do Follow and Top Commentator will ensure that you have a successful blog with lots of readers!

Thats a good list of Wordpress plugins. But recently there have been some more useful additions to the segment.I have been using Wordpress for quite sometime now and have added : All in One SEO Pack,Google XML Sitemaps,Neighbor Post Preview,Social Bookmarking RELOADED etc. to my blogs. These plugins have proved useful for me and am sure the same must be for the visitors as well.

Great list you have put up on here, have already installed some of these plugins in the last few days and have already seen my Alexa rank jump quite a bit (from 899955 to 742020) thanks to them. I also use the plugin that disables the nofollow attribute in Wordpress blogs, which is good because I’d hate to link to a site that tagged the nofollow attribute to my link. My website has a Page Rank of 3 and its accompanying blog is an offshoot from the same site (in other words, it is already with the domain and has “/blog” at the end of the root domain) so if anyone wants to exchange links with a dofollow web and blogsite let me know
